Margaret Fox realized at 24 that she wanted to
be an owner, not an employee. As the daughter and granddaughter
of self-employed business people, she grew up with real-life stories
about the challenging world of business: about making mistakes,
learning and soaring (or not learning, and crashing); about smart
work and hard work, and the difference; about confronting business
problems straight on.
The former owner of Mendocino’s Cafe Beaujolais for 23 years,
she understands the importance of different perspectives. “It's
amazing how your options increase when you see a situation from
other viewpoints." She adds, "Over the years,
business advisors helped make my success possible. They inspired
me even when I felt overwhelmed."
Since 1975 Margaret Fox has lived in Mendocino, CA. She has worked
in the restaurant and retail food world for over 30 years. From
1996-2000 she also co-owned and ran a bed-and-breakfast inn in an
Austrian castle, dividing her time between Mendocino and the Alps.
In 2000 she sold Cafe Beaujolais and began her coaching and business
consulting career.
She has written two cookbooks, Cafe Beaujolais (Ten Speed
Press, 1984), Morning Food (Ten Speed Press, 1989).
Margaret Fox teaches cooking classes in the San Francisco-Bay Area
as well as hands-on cooking weekends for small groups at the Hearts
and Hands Renewal Center in Albion, CA.
A founding board member of the Cancer
Resource Center of Mendocino County, she coordinates fundraising
events that celebrate food, wine and travel.
In November 2004, Margaret became Culinary Director of popular
Harvest Market
in Fort Bragg.
As often as possible, she walks along the Mendocino Headlands overlooking
the Pacific Ocean.
